7 tips to staying motivated and meeting your health & fitness goals!

It’s January, with a new year comes well intended resolutions which often start to waver as the month goes on. Keeping motivated to keep your health and fitness goals can be hard, whether your want to tone up, build muscle, or just get in better shape overall, it can be challenging to stick to your goals. I’m a firm believer that fitting in healthy habits that slowly fit into your lifestyle work better and are much better for your wellbeing.

Here are some goal setting tips to help you stay on track and achieve your fitness goals this year :

  • Set specific, achievable goals: Instead of setting a vague goal like "I want to get in shape," set specific goals that are achievable. For example, "I want to lose 10 pounds in the next three months" or "I want to be able to run a 5K in six months." By setting specific goals, you can track your progress and know when you've achieved them.

  • Make a plan: After you set your goals, make a plan to achieve them. This could include outlining a specific exercise routine, meal plan, or other habits you want to develop. Having a plan will help you stay on track and make it easier to follow through on your goals.

  • Find an accountability partner: Having someone to hold you accountable can be a great way to stay motivated. This could be a friend or family member who shares your fitness goals or a personal trainer or coach. Having someone to check in with and report your progress to can help you stay motivated.

  • Don't beat yourself up if you slip up: It's normal to have setbacks or days when you don't feel like working out. Don't let one slip-up derail your progress. Instead, get back on track as soon as possible and don't beat yourself up over it. Remember that progress is often slow and incremental, and it's important to be kind to yourself.

  • Make fitness a part of your routine: To make your fitness goals stick, it's important to incorporate exercise and healthy habits into your daily routine. Set aside specific times for workouts and make them a non-negotiable part of your schedule. You can also try incorporating physical activity into your daily life, such as taking the stairs instead of the lift or going for a walk during your lunch break.

  • Find activities you enjoy: It's much easier to stick to your fitness goals if you enjoy the activities you're doing. Experiment with different types of workouts and find something that you enjoy. Whether it's lifting weights, running, or practicing yoga or dancing make sure you're having fun while you're exercising.

  • Celebrate your progress: It's important to celebrate your progress and accomplishments along the way. Whether it's losing a certain amount of weight, running a personal best time, or just feeling stronger and healthier, make sure to take the time to celebrate your achievements. This will help keep you motivated and on track.

By following these tips, you can set and achieve your fitness goals this year. Remember to be patient and consistent, and don't be too hard on yourself. With time and effort, you'll be on your way to a healthier and fitter you.
